Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Babu was an ideal political leader with good ethics and principles. This Bangladesh Awami League Politician and former Jatiya Sangsad member contributed to the liberation war and helped a lot. Today we’re going to talk about those contributions in this article. 

Mr Akhtaruzzaman’s Contributions To The Liberation War: 

The great liberation war is a significant part of the history of Bangladesh. Mr Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Babu extended his helping hand during that time in every way possible. 

During the cooperation movement, Mr Babu conducted the works of the conflict committee from his Jupiter residence in Patharghata. He maintained contact with the workers of the party and got things done in time. 

Mr Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Babu organised the Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra in Chittagong. The declaration of independence was spread from Mr Babu’s residence to all locations through Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra. 

Four years after the liberation war, in 1975, when Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was assassinated with his family in his residence, the Awami League party fell into chaos. Mr Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Babu risked his own life during that time and communicated with the other leaders and workers of the party. He played an essential role in the revival and reorganisation of the party later. 

Even though his life was at risk, Akhtaruzzaman Babu never stepped back. He kept on helping in every way possible and played an important role. His contributions to the country during the liberation war is immense. 

Mr Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Babu died on November 4, 2012. Later in 2021, he was bestowed the most prestigious award of the state, The Independence Award. 

Besides contributing during the liberation war, Mr Babu kept contributing to the country after that. He used his parliamentary rights to develop Chittagong. After he was elected the president of the South Chittagong district unit of Bangladesh Awami League, he worked for the country and its people continuously. 

Mr Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Babu was an honest politician. He never tried to scam or deceive his country and its people. He was always away from corruption. During the liberation war and after that, Mr Babu always tried his best to contribute to the country. That’s why, till this date, the followers of him still mourn for his death. He’ll always be alive in our minds.
