Who’s Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Babu?
Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Babu was a politician of Bangladesh Awami League. He represented the Chittagong-12 Constituency. He was the president of the South Chittagong district of Awami League.
He was both the founder and chairman of United Bank Ltd. (UCBL). Mr Babu was also the key organizer of the Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra in Chittagong.
Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Babu Had Great Principles
Mr Babu was always driven by good principles. He was-
Honest. Even dishonest leaders try to pretend to be honest. But the mask is removed one way or another. There are tons of such examples around the world. But Mr Babu was an honest man. He’s still alive within the hearts of the nation.
Mr Babu Had Good communication skills.
It requires the ability to construct and maintain a crew. Crew building requires great communication abilities. When Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was murdered, Akhtaruzzaman was able to restore the party by hiding behind his relationship with his party. Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Babu was always grateful towards his team. He treated everyone equally.
And last but not the least,
Mr Babu was always helpful. His contributions to the country are indescribable with words. The great liberation war is a significant part of the history of Bangladesh. Mr Babu extended his helping hand during that time.
During the cooperation movement, Mr Babu conducted the works of the conflict committee from his Jupiter residence in Patharghata. He maintained contact with the workers of the party and got things done in time.
Four years after the liberation war, in 1975, when Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was assassinated with his family in his residence, the Awami League party fell into chaos. Mr Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Babu risked his own life during that time and communicated with the other leaders and workers of the party. He played an essential role in the revival and reorganisation of the party later.
Even though his life was at risk, Akhtaruzzaman Babu never stepped back. He kept on helping in every way possible and played an important role. His contributions to the country during the liberation war is immense.
Besides contributing during the liberation war, Mr Babu kept contributing to the country after that. He used his parliamentary rights to develop Chittagong. After he was elected the president of the South Chittagong district unit of Bangladesh Awami League, he worked for the country and its people continuously.
Mr Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Babu died on November 4, 2012. Later in 2021, he was bestowed the most prestigious award of the state, The Independence Award.
Mr Babu would always be an ideal political figure of Bangladesh. Everyone would follow his steps happily to become successful. He was indeed an enlightened political figure of Bangladesh.
